The prophet/warrior Moroni most certainly saw our day, the day when The Book of Mormon will "come forth".

There are many situations described in the record that speak of these "secret combinations". They often sought to kill for money. They progressed to challenging political leaders and kill them as well. Before they were destroyed at one point, purveyors of secret combinations actually governed over large parts of the land and large numbers of people.

So many suffered at the hands of these people who conspired among themselves to get power and gain.

It looks to be better to be helping those who lack rather than enjoying your "things".
