In our recent interest in staying in childhood forever, we often forget that one of the larger purposes for parenting is to produce the next generation of adults.

Can I say that God continues to have an active interest in our continuing development past just adulthood and into exaltation, the realm of godhood. As much as mortal parents want their children to "grow up" into productive adults, our Heavenly Father wants his adult children to "grow up" to become Gods like he is. - I see it as the same impulse.

The largest feature of a progressive development toward God is a "cleaving" marriage between a man and a woman; then the birthing and rearing of children through that marriage.

It goes without saying that men-kids and their female counterparts (do we have a term for them?) who have given the trappings of adulthood a miss are not even on God's radar for God-hood. It is likely (not) helpful that Christians reject such an exaltation as (conveniently) blasphemous.

Nevertheless, we write about the potential toward the divine, lightning notwithstanding.
