The philosophy here is to set up our house as if it were an RV or boat. Convert most of the infrastructure over to 12v DC, such as the computers, the tv system, and larger appliances.

This is a pretty good setup and price. They ship this via UPS from Tucson. https://westernharmonics.com/Cooling-Equipment

These are good 12v pumps that work with garden hoses. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CLP23FPP

I bought one of these window units - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Hessaire-6100-CFM-115-Volt-2-Speed-Window-Evaporative-Cooler-for-2000-sq-ft-W6100/320992489 - here is a prefab cover for it - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Hessaire-23-in-x-23-in-Interior-Grill-Cover-for-6100-CFM-Window-Evaporative-Cooler-CGR6100/329755995 - it uses a direct drive fan so I think it might not be too tricky to get a 12 volt motor for it.

So, I already have the solar panels (far more than enough), a solar controller, an old lead-acid battery for making some 12v applications work.
